Happy Small Biz Week – Retail Small Businesses Prefer Visually Oriented Social Media

by | May 3, 2017 | BIA, Blog, SAM, SMBs

When it comes to their social media marketing, retail small businesses prefer the channels that are visually oriented, according to BIA/Kelsey’s Local Commerce Monitor™ survey of small businesses (Q3/2016). As with the small businesses in most of the other vertical categories in the LCM survey, retail SMBs’ number one social media channel is a Facebook Page. 50.8% of retail small businesses use a Facebook page for advertising and promotion. Their use of Pinterest and Instagram is considerably higher than the other SMBs in the survey – with 19.8% vs. 15.4% for Pinterest and 18.7% vs. 15.1% for Instagram.

More information on retail small businesses is available in our newly released Small Businesses in Retail report.

National Small Business Week, a signature event of the U.S. Small Business Administration, kicked off on Sunday, April 30 and runs all week.
