April 2026 Broadcast Media Transactions

Television Transactions (Commercial Full Power and Class A) 

April 2026 Activity: 

  • There were no reported transactions involving Commercial Full Power or Class A television stations in April 2026

2026 Year-to-Date Largest Transactions: 

  • The EW Scripps purchase of 23 stations (Phoenix, Detroit, Denver, Cleveland-Akron, Indianapolis, Hartford-New Haven, Kansas City, West Palm Beach-Ft. Pierce, Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek, Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News, Oklahoma City, Birmingham, Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem, Memphis, Providence-New Bedford, Buffalo, Albany-Schenectady-Troy, Lexington, Spokane, Honolulu, and Boise) from INYO Broadcast Holdings for $54 million is the largest television transaction YTD for 2026. 
  • The second-largest television transaction YTD was the sale of WTVQ (Lexington, KY) by Morris Multimedia to EW Scripps for $15.8 million in March.
  • Note:
    The Nexstar/TEGNA merger was announced in July 2025. BIA classifies transactions when a sale is announced, not when it is closed. The transaction of 62 stations for $6.2B was in our July 2025 Transaction list. 

Radio Transactions (Commercial) 

April 2026 Activity: 

  • The top radio transaction in April was the purchase of 4 stations by KNZA from Connoisseur Media in Topeka, KS, for $1.95 million. 
  • The second largest transaction was the purchase of 5 stations in Jacksonville, Boiling Spring Lakes, Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, and Southport, NC, by Curtis Media Group from Capital Broadcasting for $1.75 million. 

2026 Year-to-Date Largest Transactions: 

    • The largest radio transaction YTD was the sale of three stations in Florida (Winter Haven, Lakeland, and Auburndale) by Hall Communications to MARC Radio Group for $9 million in February. 
    • The second-largest radio transaction YTD was the sale of 11 stations by Bobby Caldwell to Arkansas River Valley Radio for $6.6 million in January. 

     February 2026 Addition: 

    • Transfer of KKTD (Macomb Township, MI) and KXNC (Ness City, KS) from Post Rock Radio to Murfin for no consideration.
