BIA ADVISORY SERVICES ENHANCES MEDIA ACCESS PRO™ TO ADVANCE DTV MAPPING SERVICES AND ACCESS TO STATION INFORMATION

Version 4.5 Provides Detailed View of Digital Information for Television Stations Across the U.S.

CHANTILLY, VA. June 10, 2009 – In conjunction with the digital transition occurring June 12, when all full-power stations will broadcast only in digital signals, BIA Advisory Services announces the availability of an enhanced edition of MEDIA Access Pro™ (MAPro), to track digital television (DTV) station information. This major upgrade to MAPro, the broadcasting industry’s resource for comprehensive data and analytical software, streamlines access to station digital facility information and expands the mapping program to include detailed digital coverage maps.

“This latest version of MAPro will be extremely helpful to the industry as it fully migrates to digital broadcasting,” said Mark Fratrik, Ph.D., vice president of BIA. “We wanted to be ahead of the curve and have been updating the software with digital information so the needs of our users’ would be met when the switchover finally took effect. Now that the time has come, our software will provide a comprehensive central repository of this new information that will be continuously updated.”

When users are browsing a particular digital-only station, MAPro lists the digital information right at the top of the “Contacts and Station” tab. For historical analysis purposes, MAPro has retained all analog station information, which can be readily viewed by a simple customized search and even exported. For stations that still operate an analog facility (e.g., some Class A and LPTV stations), both the analog and digital station information will be displayed.

The sophisticated mapping program within MAPro has also been enhanced to display more easily a station’s digital and historical analog contours together or separately. Other upgrades includes the ability to turn certain categories (i.e., digital, CP, License, Analog) on and off to accommodate custom searches.

The nation’s top media companies, investment and lending institutions, and federal regulatory agencies rely on MAPro, which provides simultaneous data on more than 1,446 full-power commercial television stations, 402 full-power noncommercial TV stations, 3,001 Class A and LPTV stations, and 2,438 TV translators. As the only fully integrated multimedia database on the market, MAPro also offers fields of information on more than 14,000 commercial and noncommercial radio stations and 1,440 daily and 6,112 weekly newspapers in the United States, Canada and Mexico”

A demonstration of the new MAPro features can be scheduled by calling 800.331.5086 or e-mailing info@bia.com.
