Some argue the next several years will see a relatively flat growth advertising pie so the game will become more of fighting for market share than trying to grow overall ad revenues. In order to grow your businesses, you must develop multiplatform strategies to diversify your business models and build multiple revenue streams. This is made tougher by the necessary response to the tight ad market in terms of budget cutting, employee reductions and less tolerance for risk taking. This panel will present revenue forecasts by media platform; best management practices and case studies to assist you in developing your own revenue growth strategies.

The local media ecosystem will continue to evolve as the demand for "personalized" media increases. Is it a given that you must position yourself as a cross platform marketer? Most stations have Internet operations, many attracting substantially more revenue than others. Why? Do you need ot move beyond the Internet? Is mobile your next path? Is it viable in today's economy to invest more resources in a project that has a limited track record? The experience and ideas of today's panelists will help you get beyond the fluff and into the practical. They'll begin with the basics with insights on developing - or reassessing - the station's multiplatform business strategy. Participants' advice on digital applications that can help you create new marketplace partnerships and grow revenue is a must for any general manager. You'll leave with ten multiplatform sales money makers, ready to put in place when you return home. Make sure you're prepared for this important industry revenue benchmark. As we all know, timing is everything!

Most importantly, will they finally open the door to data broadcasting as a new revenue source? If so, what are the tradeoffs? This session will explore data broadcasting issues including: who is using it, how much bandwidth does it take and how do you design and deliver a complete application that end users want? We will also demonstrate live some of the data broadcasting applications currently being delivered over-the-air. Marketplaces 2009
March 16-18, 2009
Hyatt Regency Century Plaza
Los Angeles, California

Produced by The Kelsey Group and BIA,
Marketplaces 2009 is the one and only conference for companies looking beyond today's local ad mix of Yellow Pages, search, classifieds, coupons and direct marketing. Marketplaces 2009 leads the way in local interactive marketing as all the key players converge to network and learn from the leaders how to leverage the Internet and mobile for better lead generation, conversion and customer engagement.

With 40 industry leaders, and a number of major events, it is hard to single anything out.

  • Top executives are slated from Google, Citysearch, AutoTrader, NCI, Yahoo and AOL, each bringing the local search and portal perspective.

  • Top executives from MySpace, The Active Network, Demand Media and Marchex will talk about how they have taken social applications and services to the next level - the local level.

  • Mobile Local SuperForum highlights all the opportunities inherent in the space.
  • Special Pre-Conference Events just for BIA Clients.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Online and mobile applications are poised to become the disruptive forces that dislodge (or reinforce) traditional media. This is the conference that will be remembered as the one that changed the industry.
