TV Spacing Study
A TV Spacing Study is designed
to determine whether a specific full-service NTSC or DTV TV transmitter
facility proposal complies with the spacing criteria specified in Section
73.610 and 73.623 of the FCC Rules. The study is used primarily for allocation of
full-service TV channels. If LPTV/TV translator entries are requested (see
below), they are listed for information only; no required separation
distance is indicated.

For each channel studied, the program
retrieves all records pertinent to the study. The records consist of all
geographically close co-channel and adjacent (+/- 1) channel records.
Additionally, for UHF studies, UHF records which are +/- 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8,
14 & 15 channels from the channel being studied are retrieved according
to Table II of Section 73.698 of the FCC Rules. If no records are found
within this distance (plus the safety zone) for a given channel, the nearest
record for that channel is retrieved and printed.
The records are then sorted by channel, and
within each channel, by distance to the user-supplied site. Next, the actual
report is compiled.
Each facility record entry on the report is
accompanied by a required separation distance, if pertinent. This value is
selected from the appropriate FCC Rules separation tables.
