AM: Daytime Protection Requirements
The Daytime Protection Requirements study performs an allowable
radiation study for a given site based on ground wave contours.

The program takes into account all pertinent existing and proposed
facilities from the FCC AM engineering database. Soil conductivity information
is first retrieved for the study site from FCC figure M3 or Region II database
for Alaska.
Next, for each frequency studied, the program retrieves all pertinent
geographically close
The program then uses the groundwave contour information, along with the
appropriate protection ratio from Section 73.37 of the FCC Rules or appropriate
International Agreement, to develop radiation limits every 5 degrees azimuth
from the proposed site. If a contour overlaps the study site, a message is
printed and the study continues. In this way, mutually exclusive applications,
or the station under study, are not allowed to preclude the study.
