Northeast Leads in HD Radio Rollout

August 30, 2007

The HD Radio rollout is the most advanced in the northeastern region of the United States, according to a recent analysis by BIAfn. One reason for this lead is the significant number of large markets in this region.

Of the stations in that region, 13.8% are on the air with the digital radio format. The south-central states lag all other regions at 7.8% on the air.

The chart below displays the percentages of radio stations by region that are listed as HD Licensed and HD On Air.

This report was prepared by BIAfn for Radio World and appears in the September 1, 2007 Edition. To view the complete HD Radio Scoreboard, please click now. The scoreboard is located on page 21.
